Abstract:
Special Issue ECFED
Entrepreneurship research is thriving, with hundreds of scholars around the world contributing to our better understanding of the entrepreneurial phenomenon. The disciplinary entries are numerous, as well as are the topics of interest. The International Workshop ENTREPRENEURSHIP, CULTURE, FINANCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (ECFED) is specifically designed to facilitate high level, high intense discussion and fruitful exchange between scholars involved in entrepreneurship research. It has shown a great success in its previous editions (Caen 2008, Cartagena 2010, Namur 2012, Klagenfurt 2014 and Lyon 2016) gathering a voluntarily limited number of participants in order to support strong individual participation and the development of convivial relationships.
By now, the ECFED workshop is organized every two years and the idea emerged recently among founders, organizers and colleagues from Mexico, Colombia and Spain of creating a comparable event, alternating with the original ECFED, which would be organized in Central and South Latin America (CLA). The first ECFED-CLA was organized in Aguascalientes (Mexico) in 2017.
This issue of the International Review of Entrepreneurship contains a selection of papers presented at the 5th ECFED Workshop, June 23 - 24, 2016 at the University of Lyon, France. Following the workshop, all papers went through a thorough review process. We believe the six selected papers form a nice illustration of the diversity in topics being studied in contemporary entrepreneurship research.
