Abstract:
Lenovo stunned observers with its acquisition of IBM's personal computer division. The case examines the Lenovo group from the time the company was established and considers how Lenovo became the leading Chinese computer company. The case considers the challenges faced by the company with increasing trade liberalization in China and details the initial stages of Lenovo?s international strategy. The case concludes with Lenovo?s acquisition of IBM?s personal computer business and considers the issues that must be addressed as Lenovo enters into global competition.
