Strategic Leadership, Performance, Industry Dynamics, and CEO Turnover: A Research note

Abstract:
This paper looks at the impact of entrepreneurial and corporate leadership styles on the performance of Chinese companies and the turnover of their CEOs. CEO turnover is determined by firm performance, corporate governance and their ‘fit’ with the strategy and organisation of the business (Henderson et al. 2006). The research confirms the impact of industry type and performance on CEO tenure and identifies “entrepreneurial” CEOs as an important sub-group who have to meet strict performance criteria.
